2008 SUMMER PROGRAMS @ VFL

• Wednesday Nights. Stories! Crafts! Activities! Snacks! Ages 3 & 4 at the library; ages 5 – 8/9 at Le Jardin Café, Main Street, Valatie. July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6. 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Face painting on July 2 and special butterfly show with Carol Morley on August 6.
• Quilting Squares. Ages 8 and above. Learn to quilt a square suitable for framing. No sewing experience needed. First Presbyterian Church Hall. Mondays, July 7,14,21,28. 10 – 11:30 a.m.
• Special Day for Children, Ages 3 - 6. Fairy tales with puppet shows, games, crafts, music. Location to be announced. Tuesday, July 29. 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
• Paws - to – Read. For those currently in grades 2 & 3. Read to dogs in the library. Tuesdays, July 8, 22, August 5, 19. 11a.m. – noon. Sign up for half hour segments when you can read to these gentle shelties. All readers and dogs will be supervised by the dogs’ owner and library personnel.
• Basket Weaving. Ages 8 and older. Make your own basket. Le Jardin Café, Main Street. Tuesday, July 15. 10 - 11:30 a.m.
• Cake Decorating. Ages 8 and older. Bring a one layer, unfrosted cake to decorate. First Presbyterian Church Hall. Thursdays, July 10, 17. 10 -11:30 a.m.
• Stitchery. Ages 5 (or entering kindergarten in September) – 7. No sewing experience needed. Make an easy object. Le Jardin Café, Main Street, Valatie. Thurs, July 24. 3–4 p.m.
• Cross Stitch. Ages 8 and above. Create a beautiful design. No sewing experience needed. Le Jardin Café, Main Street. Thursday, July 31. 3 – 4 p.m.
• Pottery. Ages six and older. Friday, July 11 to make the object, Friday, July18 to glaze the object. Trolley Depot, Rt. 9 & South Main Street, Valatie. 10:30 a.m. – noon. We will meet at the library and walk to depot.
• Reading Challenge. Sign up at the library to read throughout the summer. Earn a chance for a prize for each hour (Ages 3 – 10) reading or each book read (ages 11+)
• Show: Reptile Adventure. All ages. Saturday, July 26. 11 a.m. Glynn Square.
