"Welcome to Valatie" Signs
Valatie, which is Dutch meaning "little falls", has not always been known as Valatie. It was once known as Millville, a small town that was full of sawmills and gristmills back in the 1600's. (Map)
It wasn't until the mid-1830's that the name was changed back to Valatie with the start of the town's first post office. Now Valatie's population is just over 1,700 and a perfect example of small town life. (Map)
