On Saturday, September 15th, the Valatie Free Library Team took second place in the annual Battle of the Books competition sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Library System.  In this competition 14 library teams from 5 counties matched facts to 10 books which they had read during the summer.  Both accuracy and quick response time were necessary to gain team points.  Valatie's 5 team members: Helen Rose Schneider, Molly Yezzi, Alexander Potts, Austin Fernandez and Nicholas Louizidis put on a terrific performance in the Jeopardy-like contest held at Millbrook High School.  Congratulations to the team and their coach, Elizabeth Powhida, Valatie Free Library Assistant!
